A Hepplewhite style breakfront bookcase in satinwood
This Hepplewhite style breakfront bookcase, veneered in finely figured satinwood, is influenced by the great furniture makers Gillows of Lancaster. The upper part has glazed doors revealing a silk lined interior. The doors have an elaborate pattern formed by flat glazing bars inlaid in rosewood flanked by ebony and boxwood stringing. The lower doors have complimentary decorative oval inlays of rosewood, box and ebony. The turned inlaid shaped feet have brass terminal caps and the whole piece is surmounted by an elegant pierced swan neck pediment.
